That question is too long to answer in detail here, but the rolled out icing you use to cover cakes instead of frostings like buttercream, goes by many names depending on which country you live in.  The US usually calls it ‘rolled fondant’.  Whenever I write *RTR* icing I mean rolled fondant by the many different names which I gave up listing every time I type it… it’s easy to remember as RTR applies to any of the rolled out cake coverings.
